CITY OF NEW HAVEN ENCOURAGES RESIDENTS TO BECOME EDUCATED ABOUT PREVENTING THE SPREAD OF THE SWINE INFLUENZA VIRUS
(4/27/2009) NEW HAVEN- As a proactive measure, key agencies within the City of New Haven met this afternoon to coordinate educational and preventive measures concerning the Swine Influenza Virus (H1N1). The City urges residents to follow guidelines issued by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) today to prevent further outbreak of the virus.
The City’s Health Department underlined the importance of washing hands, maintaining good health, covering nose and mouth with a disposable tissue after coughing or sneezing, using alcohol-based cleansers and avoiding touching eyes, nose or mouth. The City urges residents not to panic and to treat this outbreak as they would seasonal and other influenza spreads.
